Al fine di interpretare correttamente questo intervento edilizio è necessaria un’analisi attenta del contesto urbano in cui si collocano i due edifici. posti di fatto in un’area di sviluppo urbano frammentata e ormai esaurita, con brandi volumi residenziali costruiti e spazi vuoti industriali, si è deciso, in questo caso, di costruire non in elevazione ma di ricreare una corte aperta con volumi bassi ma ben definiti, onde definire un preciso spazio abitato a misura d’uomo. La scelta progettuale si è focalizzata sulla formalizzazione di un involucro strutturale semplice: due parallelepipedi appoggiati al suolo. La semplicità viene confermata anche per le soluzioni prospettiche delle facciate, in cui l’effetto cromatico degù aggetti dei balconi, di colore carminio, è alternato alle porzioni di muratura intonacate in colore bianco. Il tutto, infine, è legato da un alto portale in carpenteria, che segna l’ingresso al luoghi abitati e unisce, nell’insieme, i due fabbricati.

Careful analysis of the urban context in which the two buildings are located is required to correctly interpret this construction project. Since the site was in fact located in a fragmented and by then run-down urban development area, with large residential blocks and empty industrial lots, in this case it was decided that the buildings should not be constructed vertically, but that an open courtyard should be recreated with well defined low volumes, thus defining a precise housing space on a human scale. The design focussed on formalisation of a simple structural envelope: two parallelepipeds standing on the ground. This simplicity is also confirmed for the perspective solutions of the façades, in which the chromatic effect of the carmine coloured balcony overhangs alternates with the portion of white rendered brickwork. The whole, lastly, is linked together by a tall structural portal marking the entrance to the housing area and joining the two buildings.
